New Reality for US App Companies: the Global Launch?

Snow’s popularity in Asia underscores a new reality for American app makers. Previously, popularity in the United States often led to corresponding growth overseas. Today, well-established internet firms in Japan, South Korea and China can move quickly into those niches.  — The New York Times, July 5, 2016

In addition to recognizing that it may be somewhat “easier” to launch or penetrate China than western markets, for US developers the old game plan may be outdated. Instead of sequential growth (first North America, English-speaking countries, western Europe, then Asia, Latin America…) it’s time to consider global launches for first mover advantage, in multiple markets.
